I love being an orthodontist! It is such a rewarding process to see how much positive change happens when our patients' teeth transform from crowded and crooked to a beautiful smile. Watching our patients develop and grow, gain more self-confidence, and feel better about themselves always makes my day!
I truly appreciate the privilege and responsibility parents give me when they entrust their children to my care, and I work hard to do my best for them.
Practice Philosophy
My patients deserve the best, and enhancements to my knowledge and skill allow me to provide them with well-founded, scientifically sound treatment that is up to date.
I am an active member of several professional associations that provide me with opportunities for continuing education. Through regular participation, I stay current with the latest technology and orthodontic treatments.
Education & Experience
I believe it is critical to stay up to date while maintaining perspective about what is actually beneficial for patient care.
As the most experienced actively practicing orthodontist on Maui, I offer a deep perspective on a wide variety of treatment approaches and modalities.
I offer scientifically sound, evidence-based approaches to solving both simple and complex problems.
Having treated over 18,000 orthodontic patients has given me a knowledge base that can only be gained over time. I have published articles in the American Journal of Orthodontics & Dentofacial Orthopedics, and I am a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics.
Before becoming an orthodontist, I received the following degrees:
- Master of Science in Orthodontics with a thesis on airway and obstructive sleep apnea, University of Oklahoma
- Specialty Certificate in Orthodontics, Department of Graduate Orthodontics at Oklahoma
- Doctor of Dental Surgery, University of Oklahoma College of Dentistry
- Bachelor of Science in Zoology, University of Oklahoma

In the Community
I feel fortunate to have become a part of the amazing Maui community over the past 20+ years. Supporting local causes, charities, kids' sporting programs, and giving back through a variety of avenues is both a responsibility and a privilege.
Outside of the Office
In my spare time, I can be found kite surfing, SUP surfing, running on the beach, and enjoying a vigorous game of tennis! Weekends revolve around family time with my wife and two children. I also enjoy traveling as well as spending time with friends here on our island home.
